A magical space in the heart of the Aeron Valley (9 miles from Aberaeron) where the view just gives and gives.
Just imagine sitting by a log fire all snuggled up with a good book in a cosy 400 year old earth cottage in the heart of a hidden valley! Even Nomad working or romantic getaway.
The Bwthyn is a traditional Earth dwelling of a by-gone age. The Welsh word ‘Clom’ is the name given to the mix of materials (earth, clay and horse hair) which were used to construct the walls in traditional houses. Makes the walls amazingly insulated and cozy. The old bread oven was used up until recently, Ty Pawr meaning Bread House.
The Bwthyn has been a labour of love for us, we are so proud of our restoration as we were able to keep the original features and incorporate modern day amenities. The Bwthyn is best for couples or families & can accommodate up to 4 people, good friends are most welcome too; the unusual layout of the cottage is in keeping with the original design; the traditional part of the renovation is where the family lived & slept, so we have kept the same features. A king size double bed and a very comfy sofa bed. You will be all sharing the same space so its important you are happy with this if you come and stay especially if you are coming with friends. This is how the family used to sleep with the warmth of the fire in the winter particularly, surrounded by cozy sofas allowing a great sense of togetherness. Its a feeling you can only get when you do it.
The extension gives you space for cooking & bathing, extending out onto a patio area. Two outside baths give you the luxury of lying in bubbles sipping your favourite drink with a view of views, night or day. Enjoy the wonderful relaxed patio area set up for a barbecue which is the perfect spot to chat, relax and watch the red kites fly over the valley, see incredible sunsets and for gazing at the stars at night.
The magic starts when you see an ancient bluestone standing stone from the Preseli Moumtains in the garden & looking out over the valley there are 2 in the field. More will be revealed on your arrival.
As there is no light pollution in this tiny part of Wales, be prepared to see the night sky in all its glory, in fact you could star gaze. Did you know the nearby Cambrian Mountains is a renowned destination for stargazing and attracts enthusiasts from all over the world?
The Bwthyn looks over a village called Llundain Fach or Little London. A feeling of old meets new. The valley is steeped in history & stories some of which will be revealed in your guidebook and only 9 miles from popular coastal town Aberaeron.
Make the most of coast & country. And just a thought bring a tent for the kids, they can pitch it in the garden!
